Two Months Old

Cale turned two-months-old yesterday!  photo14.2

He had his two-month checkup with his pediatrician today.  The skinny on our boy:

He is 25” long (more than two feet tall!), which puts him in the 98th percentile for height.  He weighs 14 lbs 1.4 oz; putting him in the 94th percentile.  What this means – our boy is tall – VERY tall – and very skinny.

Due to Cale’s height, he is wearing a wide range of sizes right now.  For one-piece outfits, he wears at least a 6 month.  Size 3-6 months are too short.  In onesies, he’s wearing 3-6 months.  Anything smaller won’t snap.  In pants, he is wearing 0-3 months, and they slide right off of him.  He’s wearing size 6-18 month socks.  He is wearing size 1 shoes, but I’m sure that size 2 shoes will not be too big.

Cale is now holding his head up for long periods of time.  He smiles and coos.  He grabs onto anything he can reach.

He sleeps for about 6 hours at a time at night, meaning that he gets up just once a night to eat.  Within the next month, he should be able to sleep all night without having to wake up and eat.  (Mommy is SO looking forward to those nights!)

This afternoon, Cale reached another milestone – he rolled over from his back to his tummy!!  (He rolled from his tummy to his back on Christmas Eve.)007

Cale is such a sweet and happy baby.  He is so cuddly!  We are so in love!!!

First Plane Ride

This past weekend, we flew to Memphis to enjoy some time with friends; and Cale experienced his first ride on an airplane!  He did great! photo

Baby Dedication

I Samuel 1:27-28  “For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of Him: Therefore also I have lent him to the Lord; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord.”

This morning we dedicated Cale to the Lord.  In doing so, we prayed over him and blessed him.  What an amazing thing for our family!

Gathered at the front of the church with other parents and family members dedicating their children to the Lord.  Pastor Mike and Brenda Acosta, Children’s and Missions Pastors, spoke a blessing over our children and our family.009

We are so grateful for the gift of Cale!  God has been so good to us, and we give Cale back to Him.  We will honor God by raising our children to know Him and to follow Him and to love Him.  We are so very blessed!!!

Six Weeks

I can’t believe that Cale is six-weeks-old already!  He is so sweet!

With all of our holiday celebrations and activities, I failed to post a one-month update for Cale.  So here’s a catch-up.

Cale is now 23 1/2” long.  I don’t have scales at home, so I don’t know how much he weighs.

He sleeps about six hours at a time at night, getting up just once to eat.  During the day, he naps for two to three hours at a time and is awake for about an hour and half in between naps.  During this time he eats, plays on his play mat, swings and plays with Claire.

He loves sucking his thumb and loves pacifiers (very different from his sister).  He has started grabbing onto everything within reach.  He loves the play mat and the toys that hang on it – especially his monkey.

His first month of life was extremely busy.  He made trips to the park, the pediatrician, church, restaurants, the mall, etc.  He also made his first trip out-of-town.  We went to Tulsa for Christmas, and he got to meet a lot of family and some family friends.

He is very calm and sweet.  He’s extremely cuddly and loves to snuggle and be held.  He cries only when hungry or needing to be changed.  And he has the cutest smile!  He is such a sweet baby!

Here’s a video we took of him playing on his play mat.  Love that smile!!!

Cale’s two-month check-up is scheduled for the morning of January 30th.  I’ll have an update on his weight and height measurements then.

First Swim

Steve needed to fly to get some hours in before the end of the year.  While we were in Tulsa, he found some trips that overnighted there.  The company provided us a hotel room for those two nights.  We decided to take full advantage of the indoor pool and hot tub.  It was so nice and relaxing.

And Cale went for his first swim.010

He did great!  I think he’s going to be an excellent swimmer, just like his sister!!
